Sports Medicine

If you have been recently injured while playing a sport, you might benefit from North Vancouver sports injury therapy. Canadians are generally active people. The more sports we play the more likely at some stage injuries will occur. The physiotherapists at Back2Normal are well equipped to guide you back to your chosen sport or activity with the smoothest transition possible. Sports injuries are usually caused by either a direct trauma that proves too much for the body to tolerate or overuse of tissue somewhere in the body. Both of these situations can cause damage or overload of the body and as a result injury occurs. The traumatic kinds are known as Acute Injuries. These often involve swelling, pain, loss of movement etc. Some examples of acute injuries are:

  • Ankle Sprains
  • Knee Injuries
  • Rotator Cuff tears in the shoulder
  • Acute Back or Neck Sprains and Strains
  • Hamstring Strains
  • Groin Strains
  • Calf Strains

Overuse sports injuries are know as Chronic Injuries. Excessive loading of structures can eventually cause something to break down and when that happens pain, aggravation and injuries worsens. Contributing factors can be many but often include poor movement patterns, muscle imbalances, incorrect technique, excessive training, muscle weakness and tightness. The most common types of Chronic Injuries are:

  • Tennis Elbow (Lateral Elbow Pain / Epicondylitis)
  • Shoulder Bursitis (Subacromial Bursitis)
  • Patellar Tendinopathy
  • Stress fractures in the shins
  • Hip Pain
  • Osteitis Pubis

Our physiotherapist will help you to avoid further or ongoing problems of sport injuries physiotherapy in North Vancouver.
